I currently need to complete a First Aid course as I'm going for my CWI award. The basic requirement for this entry level award is an 8hr/1day training with assessment. However, I'm fairly confident I'll be completing some of the additional awards within a relatively short period of time so think I'll go straight for a 16hr/2day course with an outdoor section.

Some brief Googling and I've found a few different providers, currently looking at:

https://www.peakmountaineering.com/

and

https://www.beyondtheedge.co.uk/

Who both seem to provide very similar offerings.

Has anyone had prior experience with either of these organisations? Or could you recommend any alternatives you've had positive experiences with?

Thanks all

I've usually found not much difference between providers. Last couple of times I used:
https://will4adventure.com/courses/outdoor-first-aid/

Might be better off seeing who is available on the dates you want.

I did some training with High Peak First Aid about 15 years ago and thought it was great at time. Instructors had lots of real experience and all of the training was well contextualised in possible scenarios. Course leader had just returned from Nepal which she considered 'a good way to get experience' and had some interesting stories.

  • Getting fatter, not fitter.
I’ve done the REC course a few times with different providers, all outstanding.

My top pick would be Louise Robertson, Llanberis MRT member in that capacity.

Worth travelling for.

Thanks all for the replies. I'll have a look at those suggestions and glad to hear a lack of scare stories from any providers.
