Wasn't aware of this bike race before but it's underway at the moment and absolutely savage. A non-stop race from Brussels to the Black Sea, zig-zagging through checkpoints in the Czech Republic, northern Italy, Montenegro, and Romania. Since the start last week the current leader has spent 6d 10h in the saddle and 1d 9h out of it, and is currently riding one of the mandatory sections - a gravel road traversing a spine of 2000m tops in the southern Carpathians.

Climbers from the north-west might know Dom Stockton who is battling south through Germany towards the Austrian alps.

This year's edition starts tonight at 9pm UK time. 1st checkpoint in the Swiss Alps then onto the Karawank mountains, Albania, Greece (near Meteora I think), before finishing in Thessaloniki.
