Annual New Problem Awards
May 13, 2022, 12:27:57 pm
Hi All.

The grit is over and the white has been called. I think now would be a good time to 'host' the new problems awards.

A time to review the latest barrel scrapings from the peak and wider ;)

I will tentatively suggest the categories of

1) Best new at grade
2) Best problem name
3) Worst problem name
4) Worst new problem
5) Most arbitrary link up

I would like to nominate my very own 'All gorilla no filla' for 1) due to stunning critics reviews from UKC such as "shouldn't be a problem"

I’ll go first and also nominate my own climb for best name. Carlos Torque!

Although I know competition is strong especially against bonjoy!

Best new problem overall has to be 'one redeeming feature'
Best name?....Ned and shoulders.

Best problem I've seen is Mark20's "Consumed" at Standing Stones - proper highball, perfect rock, blindingly obvious, really precarious and techy. Only downside is it's quite morpho.

Years of perception by Aidan at the stone.

I believe Dan V had tried it a long time ago, not sure how much, but it was named as it was one of his projects? And because its right next to ears of perception. Anyhow I liked the name alot.

Cheers. Kind of relies on a basic knowledge of 80s pop cheese.

Jim's "Father I Compress"   :clap2:

Agreed. Easily the best named problem.
