[Peak][Cave Dale][Various Problems]
June 13, 2022, 02:54:01 pm
A handful of new problems in Cave Dale. Starting from the top of the dale:

At the top of Cave Dale is a small wall on the right of the path. Most of this is shattered, but left of centre is a blunt nose of better rock.

Rockfort 6c
Climb the blunt nose direct, from a sit start on small edges, to a protruding jug at the top

Mutton Thrusting 6b
The roof and groove left of the blunt nose.
Sit Start on undercut jugs at the back of the pod. Climb the roof via suspect blocks to a jug then up the groove to the top.

Sheepish 5
Sit start the thin crack and groove right of the blunt nose, on large holds. Finish as high as you dare.

Sheep Eggs Extension
This drops down just after where sheep eggs moves up, to finish at easy ground on the right (On a couple of undercuts where the angle eases, I think). It looks good and adds a fair bit of difficulty.
FA: Rob, who lives near the bottom of cave dale.

Ram Rod 7a
The attractive bulging wall between Mr Jagger’s Warning and Mundgripe, from a sit start on horizontal slots.
Climb the bulging wall directly on sidepulls then a succession of small two finger pockets, gradually easing to the ledge. Reverse a few moves and jump off.
A classic accompaniment to Sheep Shifter.

Double Ewe extension 7a+
Start in a hands off position on the ledges at the left of the buttress. Make a few moves on edges and monos to reach the two pockets at the start of Double Ewe and continue along This. The extension adds very little difficulty, and as such isn’t really a new problem in its own right, but it feels more complete as a problem than starting on the pockets.

Cheers Guy. Don’t get too excited though. It’s still peak limestone.
