Evening,
Im currently in the process of refurbing a board and it needs painting.
Does anyone have any suggestions for suitable paint for the job? I've no idea what would be best

Farrow and Ball estate emulsion.

I think people paint volumes with polyurethane paint (with things added for texture).

I just went for satin varnish and I wish I'd put more coats on.

Never bothered painting a board till my latest build where due to the number of wood holds I have now I thought i would paint it white, under coat and 2 coats of vinyl silk does not appear to be tough enough against nails and brushes

I did two coats of white Zinsser Allcoat Exterior. Been impressed with the finish and durability.

How long did you have to leave it before you could put holds on?

I think I only left it about 24 hours, certainly no longer than 48. I heard people say you had to leave it ages otherwise paint would stick to the back of the holds but I was too impatient for that! Haven't had any issues with that though when I've taken holds off.

Same here.  My board's in a cellar so not a particularly dry air environment but emulsion still works fine (plus can lash 2/3 coats on really fast with full size roller).  Satin probably better than matt if in damp/humid area.

Definitely not. Wimborne White one one side, Caulke Green on the other side.
