Drumore boulders - topo?
November 11, 2021, 10:45:43 am
I was thinking of checking out the recently developed blocs at Drumore and was wondering if the ukc overview and photos were the most useful source of intel or if there's a topo/other site that's worth checking out for info?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know the UKC is the main source of information. Some further videos here: https://www.instagram.com/bouldering_scotland/

It's got some great rock and I managed to navigate myself pretty well with just UKC (the pictures help) and the block pins are accurate. I had patchy 4G up there so it might be beneficial to download/screenshot a few things.

Went to Drumore last week on the way back from a week in Kirriemuir. Managed to sample some of the classics up there. Great little venue up to V8 or so. Here are some vids in case useful for beta:

Taken for Granite 7B
Rock Lobster 7B
Taekwonthrow 7B (7A+
Sleight of Hand 7A
Flow State 7A
Wishbone 6C+

The ground is quite rough inbetween the boulders so its a bit of a scramble to get between the blocks but well worth it and excellent rock. Some of the problems have a touch of spice on the topouts, take care!

Thanks for the reminder about these, one of my mates mentioned them a while back but I totally forgot about them. Only about 40 mins past my mum's, so i'll need to make the trip sometime!

Random! Hopefully you visited the Bon Scott and Peter Pan statues!

Did you get up to Clova?

Definitely worth the effort, great rock up there and an 'away from it all' vibe.

It was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary so they chose the Central Highlands for a holiday. I missed out on the Peter Pan outing as I was off bouldering but did notice the ACDC connection. We missed out on an Angus beef pie unfortunately as the butcher was closed. Never made it up to Clova but understand a MTB is best. Did get to Portlethen and some other Aberdeen sea cliffs which were cool

Nice. Main bits of Clova (bouldering and trad) are practically roadside, by Scottish standards), stuff on Jock's road, a MTB would benefit. If you got to Craig Stirling, I can actually see it from my front window (almost).
