How much of Cummingston is tidal?

Looks like I might have a free afternoon and on holiday nearby. Low tide at half three - how much time could I get there?

Thanks for any info.

IIRC there is a load of non-tidal stuff too, grab what you can, it's halfway between spring and neap, so high tide won't be enormous.  If condition aren't great the stuff around the Balamory Boulder is more exposed and gets a bit more breeze.

As said, loads to go at that isn't affected by tides. Primrose Bay on the other hand.. I have just had a week on Moray. Managed two sessions at Cummingston, all good. Quality rock, great conditions and a few people out climbing and bouldering. We went to check out Primrose Bay and couldn't work out how it ever dried out enough to climb the hard stuff on the seaward walk or in the cave. You'd have to have a combo of dry weather, strong NE wind. We had a light NE and spent the day chilling at the beach waiting for it to dry but it never really did. Especially as it's sandstone. It's a shame as the lines look superb in the cave!!

When we went the rotting seaweed was about 4 ft deep at the farside of the cave. Stuff on the beach side was pretty dry, don't think it ever dries out totally though.

Thanks for all the info. Had a great day at Cummingston. A beautiful spot and enough to keep my 6 year old daughter sort of amused. Will definitely go back.

I've not been to Daisy Rock, but it looks good as an alternative venue if with kids who want easier stuff to climb, will go for a look next time we are in the area.
