ScottishBloc

Over the past few months, a team of keen Scottish boulderers, developers, documenters, and local heroes, including some UKB regulars and lurkers, have been putting together a new site to document the goings on in Scottish bouldering.

Since the demise of ScottishClimbs, there hasn't been a central hub for collating information on new problems, new areas, and significant repeats. ScottishBloc aims to be that hub. Sites like North Wales Bouldering and Lakesbloc have been instrumental in the development of both bouldering and the community in those areas, so we're bringing that grassroots community psyche to Scottish bouldering!

We plan on publishing regular news items for the different areas of Scotland, generally in short-form writing accompanied by photos and videos. We also aim to store new topos on the site too, with a database of crags. We'll also be hosting longer-form articles, and hope to become a creative space within the community, promoting writing, photography and artwork related to Scottish bouldering.

We've just launched with our first news item - the latest bouldering updates from the Clyde area, written by John Watson, so check that out here!

Give us a follow on Twitter and Instagram!

Get in touch on news (at) scottishbloc [dot] com if you have anything to share! We'll have more news items soon, but in the meantime check out ScottishBloc.com!

Good work Andy, great project with loads of potential! If it ends up being anything like lakesbloc it'll be an amazing resource.

Cool!

I think there's space for user generated topo content somewhere - seems like there are loads of apps where you can plot route overlays over maps. It seems a very short step to do the same over a photo. Things like fatmap etc. I guess 27 crags does it, any other options?

Thanks all but I can't take the credit here! This is really a team effort with about 15 of us involved for most corners of Scotland!

This is something we've discussed and may be something we add in further down the line, but we're keeping things simple for now...

Great to see this come together - ideally every area should have something similar.
