Chipping at Earl Crag
June 21, 2021, 07:15:34 pm
We noticed a load of chiselled stuff on earl yesterday mostly on the 6b to 7a range, all on smears that have a lovely fresh straight line through the middle. Someone needs a chisel shoving where the sun doesn't shine.

Worth going out with a resin gun and filling in before folk get used to them. Mix with some dark soil for a better colour match.

Not sure how much you could do without making the original smear worse. When we go back up we'll note them all.

Yes, hard to say without seeing the damage.
It sounds like the problems are substantially changed already though, so some outcome closer to the original condition is likely better than no repair. At least a decent repair will look less ugly than a chip.

Perhaps UKc and the BMC should put this on their front pages, help get the message out...

Skip the first 9 mins if you don't want to listen to grimers ramblings.. (bless him )
