After speaking to the farmer today, he informed me that climbers have been damaging drystone walls and fences, that stop livestock getting close to the edge of the crag particularly above the right wing. He was verbally abused by a climber, who when asked not to climb over a wall informed him that he was a climber and carried on climbing over the wall. If we want to maintain a good relationship with the locals and ensure climbers have good access to one of Britains best sport climbing venues it would be good if climbers could; not climb over dry stone walls, park in designated parking spaces in the village and not park in positions blocking the roads on either the East or West side of the Cove; use footpaths to make descents from the top of the Cove without climbing over walls.
The cows cost around a £1,000 a head so losing one is a serious loss, please ensure we keep good relationships with locals and thus maintain good access.
