I love that this thread title reads as “First winter ascent if K2 by Andy Popp”, but then when I open it, it’s just Andy claiming no memory of it...

Hahaha. Anyway, it must have been one of the last great firsts remaining in Himalayan climbing. Mind-blowing.

Pem Chirri is with them. Pem is our Sirdar on Everest and I’ve climbed with him on Ama Dablam. Needless to say he is an unassuming machine in the mountains and a lovely fella.

They summited at 5pm. Here’s hoping for a safe descent.

There seems to be a lot of fuss made about winter ascents of these things but surely that’s when the friction’s better?  ;)

They're all using a knee pad anyway, is it even a K2 ascent?
