I've taken The Animal Within (i.e. the nesscliffe link up) off the list. If anyone spots any other there-and-back style stuff that shouldnt be on there just let me know.

I bet Dai and Klem would be horrified to find WoL compared to a there and back problem  :spank:

If we can have there an back grades - why not up and Down grades?

Lots of potential there :)

It sounds like the UKB aesthetic opinion is suitably unanimous, I'll remove there-and-backs from consideration from the boulder problem list.

but I'm so close to my classic 8B DWR link, To Hell and Back.

Is there any way that you could move the problem to the Peak? Seems to help

If we are not allowing there-and-back what about round-and-round?

Still waiting for someone to repeat the full virgin traverse....

If you do laps of it do you go up a grade per lap? How many laps is too many? Are you allowed refreshment stashes on the slabby side?

I was 40 moves in, and a meter from the finish, when I realised I wasn't a sport climber. Sorry Stu.

Are there more or less than 40 moves on the Austrian Oak? (Asking for a friend)...

My next project is working on a ~log model so climbers the world over can accurately calculate exactly what grade they get for completing 32.2 laps of their favourite warm up traverse.

I think another good list would be hardest UK Climbs.
8B+ Boulders and up, no link ups or traverses.
8c+ (9a?) Routes

Good call, I agree for the reasons the others have given. I presume this precludes up-and-downs too...

Edit: Sorry, didn't read every single reply fully since remus posted that.

Multiple lists then!

Actual climbs list, link ups list, traverse list, traverse/ link up list, holds to do a 1 armer of and claim 8A or higher list, followed by boulder/ route link ups using new made up on the spot grades list.

Doing a one-armer on either of The Ace/Joker holds might be 9A? Who has the strongest fingers in the UK?

Hence the purity of Malcs One Armer https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/raven_tor_millers_dale-146/malcs_one_armer-333176

I expect Nibile would approve...
