Wet Rock / The Young

Cal Coldwell-Storry and Alex Moore did The Young on Saturday, both ground up. Think I'm right in saying these are the first ground up ascents (after all the controversy around Franco last year). Unless Niall McNair did it GU?

Good effort doing the full line, but there's no way that buttress would have been any more than surface dry on Saturday. Bad craic climbing at Callaly at the moment, especially on the soft start of the Young, which was trashed back when I was up there. It's one of the slowest to dry crags in the county and this time of year it takes about a week to fully dry out.

Sorry my bad, it was Sunday they did it.

"they shouldn't have been climbing on it in those conditions",

"it's not even hard or serious anyway",

"it's just a crappy boulder problem"

Have I got lost and ended up on UKC?

Pop up a review of some gaiters and you’ll have the conclusive evidence. :D

Franco is pissed that people keep on climbing his E10 7b projects above pads and call them 7C+ instead 😄

I think it's important to call out climbing on wet county sandstone. Whether this is McClure at spittal or these guys. I don't think we should be treating people differently just cause they're really strong.

There's a long history of people not wanting to mention bad ethics, just because there are wads involved. Go have an ab down if 6 was 9!

It's also important to call people out when they come across as patronising.

Hi All,

Yeah, it was dry, happy days. I think if there’s one thing we don’t need Franco’s option on, it’s going ground up on The Young. Thanks anyway though!

(Sorry, put this on the other thread, like a tit)

I'm guessing something to do with the number of pegs/judging a different period in time by today's norms.

When I saw Pegging in the 90s on the karma page I must admit my first thought involved Dolph Lundgren and Grace Jones with a strap-on...

Franco, it might be worth actually explaining your comments, particularly if you're going to go the effort of doing the whole negative karma thing (whatever that means), unless the original comment was just a thinly veiled attempt at demonstrating how in the know you are?
