Bloomin' Nails...
July 15, 2020, 01:21:29 pm
Apparently I even have bumbly nails  ::)

Getting increasingly worn down, prone to going too far back along the sides, and splitting across the nail near those sides. Then of course the raggy bits catch when I'm ramming them in greasy holes and/or they annoy me and I nibble them off etc etc.

Any dietary supplement / ointment pro-tips?? I don't actually get anti-hydral on them but I don't do any specific nail care either. I'm off dairy so maybe not getting enough calcium? Any ideas? Ta.

Get yourself down the local nail bar now they are open again. A manicure and some gel nails will sort you out.
Seriously though my daughter trained as a beautician or the like and could do nails. She used to sort my battered cuticles out and had all sorts of lotions and potions for nails.

Heel balm.

A tip from Lagers for healing splits - but also does wonders for the cuticles (skin around nails?)

Key ingredient is Urea - does wonders getting rid of dead skin. You can get posh stuff from the chemists for 5-10 a tube - or some from Tesco for 2.50. I’ll WhatsApp you a picture.

Bump for the slight chance of helpful advice...

Calcium - sorry I forgot my vitamins beta, is it as simple as calcium = stronger nails??

Urea - don't think it's the skin around the nails that's the problem. I did try putting moisturiser around the nails, actually made them seems softer and worser.

Amputation or a transplant looks like the only way forward.

I can recommend some organised crime types who are good with fingernail work?

I think that vitamin D aids in calcium absorption, so might be worth getting out in the sun/eating some vit d tablets to make sure you arent just pissing/shitting out the extra calcium you are eating. No idea with specifics to fingernails though, sorry!

A better option than a transplant with your mug :p

Tomtom / Fiend in the remake of Face Off. There's one Alan Partridge didn't try to sell to the Beeb.

I can recommend this, Fiend. Helps me look after/strengthen my nails for guitar playing and my cuticles tend to be in lovely nick (I notice the difference as I only use it on the plucking (cue gags) hand).

Cheers cofeinator. That sounds more promising than dousing them in piss.

Try the heel balm Fiend. I used some last week on my little toe where the nail had split and gone a bit gammy (through wearing rock shoes too much) and it cleaned it up in a few days...

Or park up next door to a 5G transmitter with your afflicted limb poking out of the car window (engine running obvs) and reflector around it fashioned from an inverted tin foil hat.
