Great concert images
March 30, 2020, 08:54:11 pm
Splitting this off from the Anyone paint / doodle / carve Sumerian death poetry into camel skulls thread, and also as an attempt to steer the general focus of interest away from armchair epidemiology...

I’ve been enjoying trawling through images of bands / musicians from the 80s / 90s, partly because I’ve been trying to draw some, and also because I quite like mansplaining to my children that I was once momentarily leaned on by Chrissy Hynde.

Given that the majority of us seem to be late 30s to 50something, this is a period of collective interest. Some of us - I’m thinking FD here - probably went to a lot of gigs in this period.

Anyway. Please post some favourites below and I might consider drawing some of them...

I love your Kim Gordon and Joey Santiago.  I wish I could draw..

Here’s a few that I’d love to see:

Henry Rollins - End of Silence tour.

Greg Norton with curly ‘tache

GG Allin

LL Cool J

Schooly D

Bjork in Sugacubes era

Some anarcho crust punks - Discharge, Steve Ignorant of Crass, GBH etc.

Bobby Gillespie drumming for Jesus and Mary Chain

A super skinny Steve Albini

Have a look at “sceneinbetween” on Insta - you’ll love it.

There’s a lot of cool b&w photos of Fugazi throwing themselves around stage. The front cover of their ‘EP’ has either Guy or Ian basically upside down!

Funnily I’ve been listening to Husker Du and Leatherface this week. Someone wrote in the YouTube comments about Leatherface’s album Mush, if they’d been American they’d have been massive. So true. Anyway, I digress...

Ta FD...

I am doing a Chris Cornell, partly because I like Soundgarden (though this image is later) but also because I think Andy F is a big fan.

I want to do some of 90s Cypress Hill and RATM but it’s hard finding good imagery at decent resolution.

Ditto early Bob Mould / Frank Black

I finished this (of Chris Cornell) last night. I will get on with some more when I have a minute - some great suggestions here...
