Wild camping in North Devon

Looking to do some walking along the North Coast path, with the kids and wanting to Bivi/camp at least one night away from the campsites (actually, people, any people).

I know the Cornish North coast paths, from Newquay to the border very, very well, but somehow never made it into Devon and I’d like to explore a little.

Ideally looking for “the back of a beach/cove” sort of location, that’s not a tourist beach and where we’re going to at least feel remote.
Anyone got a recommendation? If you don’t want to broadcast a location, pm me?
I don’t see this being a regular thing for us and it’s mainly looking for something different to our Dartmoor/ mountain type adventures, so discretion is assured.

The valley round the back of the Smoothlands hill is lovely. Feels very remote, cool little rocky beach to scramble down to, loads of flat grass.  Even a stream. And you can walk along the beach to peer up Walk of Life/Once upon a Time
