POP!

Personaly I think that a smooth swift pop for the top is more satisfying than a dyno.  Not sure why it just feels good to make a couple of moves and then pop.

I think the best pop is A Little Sparkle at Guisecliff, whats your best pop and why?

Well there is another can of worms, personaly I think there is slapping and there is popping. Often a pop for the top is a lot less subtle than a slap?

to me a pop is 1 point of contact, a slap is 2/3 p.o.c., a dyno is no p.o.c..

Is this what you mean big frank?

what a ridiculous poll

I reckon a slap can be one point of contact too, but it's where you lay one on for a sloper, etc - hence the "slap" sound. A pop is like a small but accurate, Bruce Lee style one inch punch affair imho....

To my mind - a slap is associated with things starting to go a bit pete tong and your having to slap out of desperation. A pop is a far more calculated deliberate act.
the difference between a pop and a dyno is that the pop could be done static if you so wished (and were sufficiently honed) where as a dyno *cannot* be done static.

So that's what a pop is... another mystery solved (once I know all of the definitions,  mastering the actual moves will be trivial).

On a related topic - is there a name for when you make two moves in quick succession with the same hand? - the second move generally being a desperate deadpoint lunge  made because your strength is waning and there is not enough time to sort your feet out  (an example being Sharma on Realization in the Dosage video when a few moves after the crux he "pops" for a big jug).

as most of the hand moves i do seem to require speed  i would tend to call this climbing.although observer's might suggest other names for what i'm doing.

that's not very knarly sounding is it? ... "going again" is no use for awing folk with palm-sweating tales of  derring-do at  12 ft off the deck  :) .  I want a dramatic word... one that paints a picture (preferably one with motion blurring effects).   I will have to make up my own name for this most "rad" of all moves (...err...."death-punt" anyone?!).

There is the nudge or udge, but I think yours is a bit more than that. How about fudge? (sounds a bit gay though).

hmmm yeah the move I have in mind is a kind of desperate, dead-point/ dyno udge.  Doesn't seem to be as ubiquitus as I thought  it was (must be because I am (a) weak and (b) apt to climb myself into trouble   ).   You're right about fudge though - saying went for a "fudge" in a time of trouble would sound a bit like a deathbed assertion of something long repressed!

Still, all of this is very off topic... will shut-up about it now.

ok ok, no points of contact at some point during the move, you can land any of these with as many points of contact as you want! (have to re-emphasise that this is my only how I see things)

This was a classic POP for the top yesterday. Most punters from here reach through to the top with thier right, I just POPED with my left. It felt really good.

I think where POPing differs from dynos is that a Dyno is more set up, a pop you find yourself in a position where the POP is the next move.

That slight groove with the boss over the lip left of the big dyno at the roaches lower tier boulders.  undercut, stand up, span and classic pop over the lip to the boss.

Surely the words you are looking for are POPPED and POPPING? Poping sounds like some bizarre sexual act involving religious leaders.
