My Left Foot
March 11, 2019, 03:42:10 pm
Slightly tongue in cheek but due to right foot big toe being out of action for an undetermined period of time, does anyone know of any problems where the right foot is not crucial to success?

Or problems that could be climbed wearing a trainer on the right foot instead of rock shoe??

Answers in Northumberland or Yorkshire if you please?

Is it the right foot being in a rock shoe that’s grief - or that if its in one you might use it grief? Was sort of thinking of those using a right heel but not toe... (that was the reason for my question)

You could see what problems you can campus?

I've been slowly working through a list I made of Yorkshire problems that are good for campusing, I would share it but it's not at hand currently.

Crimpy Roof at Brimham would be fine with a trainer on your right foot, your left does all the work. Blockbuster at Caley too. Sure there are tonnes more, but they're a couple that sprang to mind.

Reckon you could do Pebble Wall with a right trainer on if you do it the step through / heel hook way.

Well documented that Demon Wall Roof is campus-able , assuming you're a wad of some description.

I climbed with a broken toe and sesamoid last year - a B3 boot worked a treat on the left foot. Standing on edges was easier if anything, so anything slabby for that foot my be a goer.

Just wear a baggy boot on that foot?

I rarely have a full quota of toenails, and just crack on with it.

Its my big toe/toe nail on right foot that is causing the issue.  I can push down on it wearing trainers but cannot take any pressure on the top of the toe so squeezing into rock shoes is likely out for a few weeks.  Although after the blood letting on Sunday evening to relive the pressure it does seem to be less painful so may recover quicker.

Good suggestions.  Keep em coming!

Anyone climbed Transformer at Bowden?  looks like its left foot orientated?

There might be a RF heel-toe on Transformer but it might be avoidable and the crux is a left foot squeeze-over. The Dawes showed me how to do it in socks before rushing off to watch Formula 1 in the pub.

Semi serious reply - you might stalk Phil Mitchell at Boulder Hut, who lacks a right leg. He seems to do alright up to around mid-7s :)

What about that footless traverse at Shipley that Will was doing with his feet on and then downgrading?

I'd love to see you campus the low traverse, Tom!

The high traverse could be campussed, Paul.

Transformer Lh can be done without your right foot. The foot lock for your rf was never in originally hence why it was 7c. With everything in and the undercut in its present state it’s 7A+\b

Great problem without the foot lock though.

You sure its a right foot lock on Transformer? I recall seeing left foot jam in the crack for tall people beta?

Just watched video of Underhand at Almscliff, looks perfect. :bounce:

When we did the problem the back wall and undercuts were not in. These seem to now get used for toe hooks.
The problem only used the holds on the lip and roof. This did include the flake it starts on which you can get a left heel/toe in, although we didn’t do so as that kind of cheating had not been invented back then.
The big undercut in the roof wasn’t there either.
Total eliminate as we did it but a fun problem if you can’t use your right foot.
