A repeat of surveys run in previous years... rules are simple - hardest grade (Font) boulder problem you have succeeded on in 2018. Anywhere in the world, no indoors problems, no V grades.

7B for me, all on the grit since November: Zippy's Traverse (repeat), then Piss, Late Junction and T-Crack.

Hell is closed for climbing for now (and there are not that many boulder problems there) https://www.bladet.no/nyheter/2018/12/13/Stenger-klatrefeltet-p%C3%A5-Hell-18062144.ece

Hang on didn't you bravely and humbly downgrade all the 8's you'd done in your 'Best of' round up?  ;D

'Best of' means quality right? I didn't even mention the hardest problem I did this year, such is the extent of my humbleness :ang:

But in all seriousness (and without trying to brag in any way) I do think about a third of all the problems I've done, 7A or above, are overgraded. Particularly the harder ones.

That seems about right, I think for whatever morphology and skill set, a certain amount of problems are going to feel distinctly easier than the given grade, just as some should feel sandbagged (Ben’s sit falls firmly into latter category for me for example, but I know someone who did it as their first of the grade). Obviously in amongst this there will be actual incorrectly graded problems, but if you’re driving a 6 hour round trip to Wales is just take the grade  ;D

Sounds spot on?

Grades are (supposed to be) for the average climber - for any individual some will feel harder, some easier, and some about right. As you get closer to your limit, the problems you succeed on are more likely to be ones that suit your strengths.

Edit: teestub beat me to it.
