At last, a beacon of hope in this shitty annus horriblus.

The thought of a winter spent sliding around on soapy plastic holds, choking on chalk dust and gagging on the death smell of 5.10 rock shoes was beginning to fill me with despair. (NB. I haven't succombed to a wall visit yet - in fact had a stand off argument at a rain swept crag last week with my mate who suggested we cut our losses and go to PyB for a burn. I refused, declaring it was unnatural to go to a climbing wall in September.)

I just hope it matches the consistently stunning conditions of the 2002/03 winter. I only went to the wall twice in the whole season! :

Stopped for a quick taster this arvo, lovely conditions sunny with a cool strong breeze : .  Was out on a site visit looking at Shipley tax office, so dropped in and did Red Baron for the first time. Bloody brilliant, no pad or spotter, in my work cloths and all the sweeter for being in work's time, nice!
