Good Progression Lists on the MB
September 11, 2018, 06:04:19 pm
Going off the theme of good problems at different grades, I was wondering if anyone had made any lists of a particular grade they'd be willing to share.  I'm going to start putting ones together at various grades to share for a friend who is looking to really progress on the board this winter.  He's been a vert/techy sport guy for years, so the MB is a big weakness for him.  My user name for the MB is: Todd Helgeson.

Which hold setup are you on? My wall has moved to the 2017 setup so I have a few lists on there

I have access to both set-ups.  My home wall is on the 2016 for now, but my friends wall has the full 2017 setup.

Here's a bunch that I've enjoyed across both sets - nothing harder than 7B as I'm not very strong. Would be good to hear any others you'd recommend on the 2017 setup as I seem to have lost my lists...

6b+
- Bitter
- Squincher
- Saluhallen 4

6c
- Sourkrawt
- Ataualpa

7a
- Borneo

- Punch Drunk

7a+
- Power Cat
- Problem 9
- Black Beatle

7b
- Fingers Crossed
- Coca & Mignotte
- Ironarm

2017 Moonboard Masters

6c
- Fight the Power
- Little Black Submarine

7a
- Genesis Chain
- The Yellow Project

Cant go wrong with the benchmark list IMO. Sure, there's a few sandbags in there, but looks like the moon team have been adding some softies in there lately too, so it's getting a bit more balanced.

I've got 9 of the 91 6A+ - 6C+ benchmarks left to do, all of them nails...

Ticked off two more last night though that, although hard, were really good:

Bilder Im Kopf 6C
C-Curve 6C+

I guess I just don't agree with the benchmarks as being a good means of progression.  I find they're all over the place, and substantially inconsistent in both difficulty and in quality.  For reference, I've done all of the 2016 benchmarks up to 7A+, all but 1 of the 7B's (Ironarm), done 7 of 14 of the 7B+'s, 8 of 21 7C's, 5 of 9 7C+'s, and 1 of 3 8A's. For it being all a standard board and hold setup, that seems to me like a massive variance.

Shameful sales plug here but for anyone looking to get stronger in their own home/garden, I have a dismantled moonboard and holds for sale in the for sale forum.
 :off: :sorry:

Getting back on topic I found the current set up and problem list a bit dull and all over the place. All the problems were really similar and maybe varied by one hold. The old set up was much better.
