Dry in the rain Devon
August 23, 2018, 11:20:43 am
Going to Berry Head for the BH, rain on Sunday looks like it may stop play. Any dry in the rain bouldering nearby (may stretch to N Devon if any good places)?

I know Anstey's and Torbryan are options sport-wise...

Pixies Hole at Chudleigh is pretty rain proof. Some fierce lime eliminates there!

Also Hazard Quarry but I think access is questionable, I haven't been there for years. Best check on the RAD to see what the score is.

If you go to Hazard don’t park near it, park somewhere further up the lanes and walk-in

Torbryan can be okay in light showers but it's not really rain proof. Ansteys slightly more weather resistant. Ash hole is totally dry... As is pixies hole.

I was pondering exactly the same. May see you there on Saturday? Ash hole and maybe the Churston sport were the two bits that looked from the guidebook like they might be possibilities...

Yeah, will see you on the DWS on the sat for sure. Ash Hole looks like a possibility, any idea where I can find a topo?

I'll either be traipsing round with a child somewhere up the top, or on the crag in orange shorts and possibly a blue t-shirt.

Topo for ash hole - aside from the south Devon guide, no ideas I'm afraid, sorry.

Would any bits of Churston Cove stay dry? Looks a bit better than Ash Hole...

Shower proof but not proper rain proof I don’t think.

Hazard Quarry can offer some good sport in the rain, depending on current access.

The cows might claim they were under the roof first though!

Plenty to go at, as I recall.

Usual other spots - Chudleigh etc.
