Quick draws in cabin bag

Anyone done this? OK or not? Flying with easyjet if it makes any difference.

Cheers.

It depends on the airport security personnel rather than the airline. A friend had theirs refused so they had to go back to check-in and pay to put them through separately, although I've heard of other people getting them through. It's a gamble.

I was fine last autumn, Jet 2 from Leeds-Bradford.

They let me carry on a large clip stick too, to which the the chap in the seat behind me complained “they took a fork off me, how come you’re allowed to bring on a large plastic spike?”

ryan air and wizz air let you check hand luggage into the hold for no charge - if you can do this at check-in then you don't have to take the bag through security

Cheers all, it turns out that red rhodesha has way too much stuff anyway so we've got another hold bag...  ::)

Either way a few thoughts on the matter:

1. If you're flying easyjet a good trick for getting things on the plane that can't go into the cabin without paying for a bag is...tell them at the check in desk that you'd like to put you "carry on" bag in the hold. They always let you check it in for free.

2. When flying to South Africa via the middle east, some friends got every single bit of webbing in their carry-on bag cut. All their cams, QDs, harnesses etc. as they were a "strangulation risk"... Bizarre!
