Moon Climbing Bouldering Bag - zip repair
June 18, 2018, 03:11:31 pm
I've got a mk1 (the camo print one) version of the Moon Bouldering Bag, but the zip is totally knackered now - it's frayed away from the bag proper and the zip is now "eating" the frayed edges of the zip.

Anyone got any tips of getting these fixed up?

I'd be loathed to chuck it out as it's a great bag and is perfect apart from the knacked zip.

I've taken bags to a tailor before to fix, which did the job. Worth dropping/emailing your nearest maybe?

  • Getting fatter, not fitter.
Go to your local drycleaner, they probably have/are linked with a local seamstress. Zips aren't cheap though.

I just got my DMM flight re-zipped. At £45 it wasn't cheap.

Crikey, that's a bit steeper than I'd imagined. Mother in law is pretty handy with a sewing machine, might run it past her and see what she can do.

Worth checking with Alpkit Hathersage (https://www.alpkit.com/support/stickies/store-repair-station-price-list). Not 100% sure, but I think they do repairs on non-Alpkit kit.

Alpkit repaired some of my non-Alpkit kit before.

Alpkit declined but were helpful. DMM didn't reply (which I thought was poor). Commercially yes, I'm not convinced I've made the correct decision but at least now the black zip means I can tell which is mine!
