Studio Bloc Masters 2018

Good comp. Some real IFSC contenders in the finals. Fanny looks ridiculously strong but a bit lost on the method sometimes.

Yeah enjoyed that.

Hannah put in some solid effort, especially on W3 - insane strength from apparently teeny arms!

Here be spoilers:

NSFW  :
Surprised Janja misread W3 and persisted with the dyno beta - over-confident in her strength?
Solid climbing from Miho though, should cause some ripples this season.
Fanny also looked really strong

Men's was pleasantly close - Alexei has previously gone on record (I think) about hating run & jumps but dispatched it with relative ease. Mikael looked super strong when the problems suited him too.
Jan and Jernej are always entertaining to watch too.

Good production too, don't think they missed any crucial moments? Crowd noise could've been slightly louder to evoke a bit more atmosphere.
I for one enjoyed the commentary too - possibly stoned non-native (?) english commentary, who either didn't give GAF or was knackered from so much commentary and was happily chatting away.

The "struggle bus" is now my new favourite term, which is apt as I definitely keep missing the send train.

Most definitely non-native. My campaign to convince the German speaking climbing world that the "b" in "climbing" is silent continues to fail.

Agree on the production values.

I really hope that Mickaël Mawem will have a good season. He had had done a good comp every now and then but seems to lack consistency, that is certainly not for lack of time committed to training.

The commentators sounds very much like drunk and stoned Americans, I found it much preferable to a lot of comp commentators!

It's an American and an Aussie on the mic according to my ears.  Nice relaxed approach.

Cheers for the link. Watched first 2 problems, will watch the rest later. Bit disappointing for men to have two knacky weirdo parkour problems back to back. Miho in W2 was ace tho.

Commentators sound off their tits, I really like it so far, they're obviously psyched and knowledgeable but not at all bothered about the bland pro-sports-commentator style that is becoming de rigeur in IFSC.

Just got round to watching this. Really enjoyed the comp. Fanny is looking really strong this year, hope she can manage to win a wc.

Commentary excellent. Anyone know where the non-yankee is from? Weird accent. Maybe south Africa?

Yeah that was cool. Really liked W3 too, the top of that was mesmerising. A little bit volume-y / parkour-y overall maybe, but still a good watch.
