Matrix Wall

Has anyone been there?

Went there yesterday afternoon - Nice wall actually, some of the route setting is shite! Spend most of my climb on feature only.

BUT that orange route on the ball is brick hard! Not bad wall for £3.

Was there last nite - I've been going about once a week since new year cos it only 5 mins from tha crib. Great when i'm too lazy to go to the Edge, also its better for a piss-about session cos theres loads of scope for dicking about with dynos etc. Some of the problems are quite good, like tha pink one just right of that orange desp you mentioned (i aint tried the orange yet). The "campusboard" makes me laugh  .

I'm an ex-student, but not of sheffield. So yes i think they had a trial period over jan where they let anyone in, obviously realised they were making a killing when its full every night so now its open to all, all the time. I recon its got a good friendly atmosphere, although it would be shit for anyone who is a student-phobe.

I am public, so currently it open to public now, which is great but don't know it will last.

oh right, cheers for that.

When I went - on the weekend it opened, I was told I couldn't go in (I'm an ex Hallam stude) but was allowed a walkaround, thought the wall looked cool but that all the holds were massive - i.e. probably good for a few long circuits/an easy day but not really a training venue. Would you agree?

All the hold below 5a are massive, the best of the route seem to be above 5b ish (smaller holds).

The feature is pretty good for crimping.

Yeah there are a lot of easy stuff, but theres also loads of hard stuff to be done, in both the set problems and obviously countless eliminates etc. I've not yet stuggled to find anything to do.
