North Carolina bouldering
November 27, 2017, 07:56:20 pm
Anyone been to the Boone area / Grandmother mountain. What's he bouldering like? Vegetated ? Locals only ?

Is it possible to construct a half decent adventure-type family there? Trail running / rafting ?

Any info appreciated

I haven't been but I think its meant to be very far from locals only. The south-east US is stuffed with world class bouldering. When are you thinking of going?

The southeast is generally hot and extremely humid in the summer and I can't imagine Boone is much different. I would imagine there's loads of outdoor stuff to do but I think the climbing would be pretty unpleasant then.

I've been told it's high enough to be ok in summer but that the Grayson highlands in Virginia would be cooler still.

Perhaps it is, I really wouldn't know. It certainly wouldn't be the season to go for a focused climbing trip.

What's wrong with your current family? Not adventurous enough?
