Kitty's crag, Cheshire.
April 24, 2017, 08:18:10 pm
I climbed at kitty's today and the place was a shit tip! I was only there last week as i was trying one of the projects on the left of the crag.
The crag was caked in chalk and well tick marked which is grim for a quiet esoteric backwater but it'll all brush off eh...
My beef is the broken trees. There was an oak branch (2-3 inch diameter) that was close top of the crag that had been snapped and bent back to the crag. There was also another branch that had been broken off leaving a big scar where the branch/trunk had split.
A small leggy bush had been broken off and there had been a lot of pruning, thankfully with secateurs or something but these had been left at the foot of the crag.
The crag is on national trust property with no formal agreement to allow climbing and it is really close to the sandstone trail which is a very popular long distance footpath. I really hope the actions of these people have not jeopardised our access to this lovely little spot.
Rant over....
