Block function.
March 31, 2017, 03:45:37 pm
Have searched briefly but couldn't find anything. Is there a block/ignore user function on UKB so one can block all content by a set user?? I'd find it pretty useful and I'm sure others would find it very useful (including for my posts). No doubt there's some incredibly longwinded browser hack but is there anything intergrated??

Uh oh. Are you excommunicating a convicted tried-in-absentia top roper?

  • Largely broken. Obsolete spares and scrap only.

I know I waffle a bit, but that's a bit uncalled-for.

I just stick two fingers in my ears as I read out aloud any offending posts. Isn't that what everyone does?

LOL. I've got into the habit of either scrolling down names first and not looking at posts, or using posts from normal people as markers to start from, but it's a bit annoying when you might miss some interesting discussion in the flicking past.

Just get all irritated and have imaginary conversations on public transport.

It's in your modify profile list in your, um, profile.
See here

Seems a bit unreliable though 'cos I can still see your posts

Thanks but the info on that page doesn't seem to work:

We don't have a policy but if you go to your profile then under the modify profile list on the left go to "buddies/ignore list" and you should be able to add Sloper to your ignore list. Check Personal messaging to ensure it is set to receive message from "All members, except those on the ignore list" which is the default setting anyway.

The Modify Profile List only gives me:

Quote
Profile Info!
Summary
Show Stats
Show Posts
Modify Profile
Account Settings
Forum Profile
Look and Layout
Authentication
Notifications
Personal Messaging

And none of those seem to have an ignore option??

I'd be pretty happy if people had me on ignore, better they can't see posts that their petty daily-mail-esque over-reaction little brains can't handle, than go on some butthurt crybaby spree about it (obviously not referring to you!).

I've used this function before and it's useless really as the post still appears but the text says "you have chosen to block this user" or similar, and then there's a button to read the post.

Invariably the blocked user is part of a conversation and the content gets commented on by others etc.

Aye, but I still used to be spared most of Sloper's posts, which was an improvement. Esp as the more users who block a person, the fewer there are left to quote their posts etc.
