Damaged pad repair????
April 14, 2017, 11:04:32 am
One of my bouldering pads looks like it has been a meal for a mouse. There is a piece of the outer shell roughly 2 inches square missing from the corner and a bit of the top foam has gone too. Its there a way to repair it more permanently than bodge tape or is that my best option?

Can you not just sew a patch of some reasonably sturdy material over it? Get some arts and crafts on the go?

Was trying to think what material I could use to do it. Would need to be hard wearing and thick and able to withstand shit weather n mud

Graphene. Go skip diving around the back of Manchester University... ;)

Wouldn't steel re-enforced pad corners be fun.. (landing on them might be a tad uncomfortable but think of the durability...)

*sorry - it's been a long weekend....

Go to your local dry cleaners and see if they have someone who does alterations to talk to, might give you some advice or scrap material.

Lots of luggage and outdoor equipment use Nylon Cordura of 1000 denier or higher, which often already has a waterproof coating. A quick Google shows lots of UK companies that sell it by the meter (£10-15) or will send you a sample pack of available colours for a few quid. I don't know how big the samples are, but you could always drop them an email.

Don't get distracted by some super heavyweight indestructible fabric though as the tougher they are, the harder they are to work with.

Condemn an ancient rucksack and cut out the biggest panels of Cordura?
