Guessing they are for using in an impact driver if I recall your earlier thread? What size do they need to be - the one you have quoted is imperial but it's equivalent would be about 6mm or 6.5mm.

Got this at 6mm - http://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-impact-screwdriver-bits-h6-x-25mm-pack-of-3/9529d?_requestid=572373

Yep, I buy them there too. H6's. Just received 12 on Friday. Usually have to order as they never seem to have them in stock here.
I think it's impossible searching for "Hex bits" or "Allen bit" though, for some reason; have to search H6 or H4. I don't know why.

Ignore it unless you want to order from hong Kong via ebay. Don't get 5/16. It won't fit properly and will ruin the bolt heads very quickly

I just bought these for setting the home wall... used with a bit holder
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IJZHEY8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mostly because they were cheap

Yea there fine they just tend to get pulled out from the holder and when your setting in a harness it tends to then fall and dissappear

You can get extra-strong bit holders (Wera?).

The long 8mm bits that you originally linked to are hard to find in the UK.

Basically, this is how it works....

long bits fit directly into the impact driver, negating the need for a magnetic bit holder....
which is good in an impact driver as the continuous banging when tightening bolts (not screws) loosens and breaks the magnets in the magnetic bit holders, which is why those small 6/8mm bits people have linked to are a bit shit.
However, we use 8mm much less than 6mm (and I'm more mindful/careful when using 8mm) so use long 6mm bits, and just use short 8mm bits in a magnetic bit holder.

if its just for a home wall installation, the short 8mm will be fine
if its for pro use but minimal, the short 8mm will be fine
if its for pro use generally, speak to Alex Fry - he'll know where to get 'em. Barrans has one but i forget where he gets 'em. some online retailer.

Possibly lazy, but couldn't find long bits (H6, what do you use the 8's for?), so I Araldited a few into some toolstation holders. As holders go, though, the Erbauer ones last well for screws and when we have two setters working simultaneously; we use them for both H6 and P2's. We set/strip everyday, I guess 20+ Blocs per week (9 circuits on a 9 week reset schedule); sometimes 4x that (major volume reset). The Erbauer bits last months. I use two impacts though, one with the H and one with a P2; because I don't (can't be arsed to) change bits on a ladder.
So, I like Erbauer.
We had three Dewalt holders shatter, but only one Erbauer (J fell off the ladder and hung on the impact. I called him unpleasant names, checked the driver, then check he was ok).

many holds (ie Axis or any american brands) accept 8mm cap headed bolts much more readily than 6mm countersunk, or 6mm mushroom headed (volx feet), which can be damaged (chipped around the bolt hole) when you use a non - intended bolt.

Never bought any US holds. Worth it? It's always a risk trying something new and I don't get anywhere near enough time at other walls to try before I buy (paying to use someone else's wall? I'm too tight for that).

quick cheap fix, could you chop an allen key?

I've found cutting them 60-80mm allows easier access to the counterbored holes in a climbing hold.

would be if he was using a combi drill but he wants one end 1/4" to fit in the impact driver.

As an alternative, if you plan on using this a lot then worth considering buying a impact wrench with a 1/2" square drive and buy the 8mm hex 1/2" bit ie ( this + this )

or

get some socket adapters ( like these plus your choice of 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" 8mm socket head
