Cleaning graffiti off moorland grit
November 02, 2016, 03:07:13 pm
I recently heard that a couple of excellent moorland grit venues had been tagged. I can put up with graffiti in the quarries, but it's really out of place 45 minutes from the road at an unspoilt natural grit venue.

Does anyone have any advice for graffiti removal, or experience of doing it? I've emailed the BMC, but they had no ideas.

This is one of several tags at Dove Lowe, which is an excellent crag in a beautiful location (pic from Graham Stevens). Apparently it looks like spraypaint.

This gives you more of an idea of what's being defaced. Fatneck's pic of Extemporise, a 7B.

And Iggy Healey's pic of the same problem.

 :wank:

I have no idea about getting paint off, but my first thought was "wire brush".

Did someone interrupt Gareth two-thirds of the way through?

Or is it Greg trying to claim it as part of the Lake District? ;)

Hopefully (knowing that Bloc) the paint is on top of a load of green and scrittle so may come off quite easily with soap and water?

What Tom said.

Some has just appeared on the Hurkling stones too. If it says GC I'm not sure if I should be more or less annoyed.
