New 8c+ at Malham
October 13, 2016, 09:28:37 pm
Big up to Neil Gresham for closing out on his extension to Predator today which he has been falling off for a good proportion of the year.

He was starting to go slightly demented and dreamt last night of being told in a restaurant that they didnt have cheesecake when he asked for it despite everyone else at the other tables eating cheesecake. Coincidentally Steve Mac had also had a dream that the Neil was missing an obvious foothold. From the end of Predator and what looks to be a poorish shake the bulge above has Font 7B+ moves and then an easier headwall. Haydn checked out the crux today and confirmed that teh Font grade was right.

Looks to be a great addition. Name not yet confirmed from his pre-prepared list but he was being egged into choosing "Transgresham"

Obvious choices (for fans of old skool action films anyway): "Alabama tick" or "Sexual Tyrannosaur".

A great effort. Surely an Arnie film later in his considerable canon would be a more appropriate name. What about the, ahem, 'classic' kindergarten cop? 'A dream of white cheesecakes'?

Transgresham is an awful name!

He should call it Shark as they are the ultimate predators (supposedly as they havent evolved much for millions of years) plus when Shark does the Oak it will be too tempting not to try it plus as a sort of homage to how unbelievably dedicated he has become to the siege.

I listened. There was a lot of advice - some asked for and a lot not. I cant follow all of it as some would be contradictory and others unpalatable. I have taken away some messages.

Bear in mind I also have the benefit of travelling up and down with some of the best climbers in the country who know me and the route in question and seen directly how I am doing on it and a good proportion of each 1 hour and 40 minute journey is spent talking about what weve done and are planning to do on the way up and analysing how we did and how we can do better next time on the way back.

Saying just climb faster when all you do is boulder based on a video is just part ogf the picture. Also having not been on the route you dont know how awkward it is to precisely place your feet. People like Gresh and Steve dont think I am climbing the route slowly. Who's advice am I going to take?

Mind you at least you know me and have seen me climb. Unless Im mistaken Duncan, I dont think you've had the privilege.

With apologies to cowboyhat - I didnt start it (again)

You can't knock it - that's a great effort. Most climbers have given up trying to improve and switched to cycling by 45.

I wasn't knocking it. It's great you can still improve in 40s/50s. And the quitters are just that. Road cycling-    :shit:
