Van Camping near Pass of Ballater
August 28, 2016, 04:37:04 pm
Hi, I'm gonna be around the Pass of Ballater for a few days soon, can anyone recommend good spots for parking up a camper van?

Cheers

I would have thought the PofB car park would be fine!  As long as you're not near Balmoral I think you'll not be short of nice spots.

Yep, as Ali says, just use the parking for the Pass of Ballater crags. Can just about walk to the pub from there if you find the road. Alternatively, if you drive through the middle of town and head towards Braemar there is a parking area on the left right by the river, a lovely spot I'm not sure if it's signposted but it's obvious on google maps at the end of Old Line Way. The Bothy Cafe in Ballater is a great place for breakfast or lunch (expect it to be busy weekend lunches though).

Two local questions in one day!

If you do decide to drive out of Deeside and into the moors for a scenic doss-with-a-view, it's worth being aware that we're in prime red grouse shooting season and it's one of the most intensely managed grouse shooting areas in Scotland, so you might get a visit from a 'friendly' keeper asking you to move on before Lord Chumley-von-Doublebarrel comes for his day 'at the grise'.

Tollohill Woods Car Park? Beach? Torry Battery? All good.

Which Uni?
