Strava - UKB Cycling Posse
July 06, 2016, 12:58:11 pm
Since the UKB Fell Running Posse has been ticking along nicely, I've just set up a UKB Cycling Posse Strava club for anybody two wheel-inclined.

Get your chamois cream at the ready: https://www.strava.com/clubs/ukbcyclingposse

P.S - I know Jim is at the leftmost in the lineup but I don't know who his three club mates are in the header image....

I don't know whether you are aware Strava is often used by bike thieves to suss out where you live and come and break in to steal your bike(s).

Just got a new roadbike, so all keen. With my thumb so knackered I can't really climb or use my mountain bike (can't change gears) so it's the only thing keeping me sane.

Plus away to Lanzarote next week, and planning getting a bit of road biking done, so working on fitness a bit so I can actually enjoy some longer rides

Seeing I'm the only one in our road who actually closes their garage door, the risk is pretty low. And you can set up a privacy zone around your house if you are paranoid.

I had my first moment of Strava-wankerism the other day. Nice bit of twisty single track after a 25km scenic ride with the girlfriend:

She - "Don't go bombing off and leave me beehiiiinnnnndddd"

Me - "braap, braap"

She "I thought I asked you....."

Me - "I only went ahead to make lunch and get the kettle on"  ;)

Still no fucking KOM dammit, even in the wilderness of Ullapool where only 12 others had been before.

May as well throw my (cycling) hat into the ring. Very much a part timer, so totally in keeping with my obsession with joining groups with which I'll never appear on the weekly leader boards.  :dance1:

I'm struggling to tie up a few proper names on Strava with nicknames on here. Lanzarote was good, but a bit warm for any serious distances.

I'm in.  Love a bit of Strava.
I'm also thinking of making a competitive calorie counting app for serious dieters called starva.

Nope. Not like anyone lives anywhere on here lives anywhere near me. I can still fail to get on the leaderboards most of the time!

Strava lock down isn't actually very locked down at all, unless you mark each of your rides as Private.

Unless you're not the Fat Doc in Sheffield and are really Claus The Fat Doc from Denmark, in which case you're hiding very effectively

Yeah, I thought I'd locked mine after getting some abuse for being 5000(andsomething)th fastest (slowest) on a ride at Haldon (I had two seven-year olds, a 9 yo, an 11 yo and an upset Mrs OMM with a flat; in tow).
Apparently not though, as someone else commented on my run last Thursday.
Who randomly decides to comment on a stranger's run/ride? Why?

Can you Strava pram pushing?

You can, - you can Strava  any exercise, but you would need to log it as a bike ride to show up on the UKB Cycling Posse page. Guess prams have wheels...

I'm just a part timer webbo, I think that distance may kill me. I think it;s time to invest in a turbo trainer. And some winter / wet tyres after Sunday's near miss incident

What happened on Sunday?

Turbo, really? Can you not invest in some MTFU and just get out riding? What would Jens do?

What happened on Sunday?

coming down a steep switchback on really wet road, braked a bit too hard on back wheel and it slid out about a foot before I recovered it.

Unless I get the kids out of bed and take them with me, when i go out on an evening and mrs is out, i think turbo is a worthwhile investment

Yaay, sitting top! Oh, it's only Tuesday...

Can't believe the weather for 1st of November. Bit chilly on the top in the wind, but other than that I was shorts and long sleeve all day.  Now I'm totally done in.

Bloody freezing tonight. Garmin said -2 coming over the tops at 8pm.

On the plus side all the new roads surfaces are great.
