Miuras with XS Grip?
May 27, 2016, 06:50:40 pm
My only pair of Miura Laces that's still on its original soles soon won't be, and I'm thinking of getting them done with XS Grip instead of XS Edge as an experiment.

Anybody tried this? Good idea? Bad idea?

I've resolved Scarpa vapour v with grip. Didn't remember noticing much difference. They were softer than a new pair. But could also just be because it was a worn in pair. Only thing is that it's normally 3.5mm bs edge 4mm

Just put my boostics in to V12 for some XS grip, doubt it'll be a huge difference but I'm hoping they become my well broken in trad grippy pair!

Muira laces used to be xsgrip, I much prefer the grip rubber but guess it depends what style of climbing you'll be doing in them. I'd be tempted to get a resoled pair of shoes done in a nice thick layer of C4 if it was more for mileage and not so hard climbing, as they'll never be as good as new in my experience, even with someone as talented as Llanberis resoles!

Meunchener - I've just got my Boostics back with XS Grip.  They definitely feel softer and more tacky, you can feel them deform more over small edges. Not totally convinced that for a shoe like this it's an improvement over XS EDGE, as the shape of the shoe makes it poor for smearing anyway. Might work better with the muira as they are less aggressive I think.

I'll post back when I've had more mileage in them. Good job by Llanbaris Resoles though!
