Drive to Stanage, Almscliff, Caley, get out of the car, boulder there instead.  ;)

Seriously though, I park here and walk up the track through a small group of houses, then turn left and walk around the hill to the three fields you can see on this map just below the "top" of top o'th moor farm. http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=378090&y=415900&z=115&sv=378090,415900&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=735&ax=378090&ay=415900&lm=0

Cheers for that. I am just going to check it out as I teach in Bolton and thought it might be ok for a Wed PM with my students. The only other places we go to locally are  Brownstones and Wilton.

We did go to Thorn Crag last week which was quality.

May I suggest Blackstone instead? Holcombe Boulders wouldn't work well with a group. Or an individual either for that matter...

Well I am here now! Above the three fields there are a few boulders, which certainly are underwhelming. They don't seem to match the photo of the arête on UKC, and there is not room for 30 problems. More like 3 crap ones.

Without your warnings I would assume i was in the wrong place!

This can't be it. No one would take the time to record these.

Found some more rock! Not yet been inspired to stop searching. Jumbles next!

Just seen this. Yeah, local's venue. As in - if you live within 10min and don't mind very lowball lowballs, it's somewhere to potter around at. Shame you haven't got the guide - it would have warned you off!

Jumbles is likely to be midgey this time of year and probably not ideal for group bouldering.

The east lancs moors are good (Blackstone, stony edge, dove Lowe etc) just depends whether they are close enough for you and you are happy with longer walk ins.
