Hey guys thank you.
I really appreciate and most of all I'm glad that the pic sends positive vibes, that was the purpose.
We've had some gorgeous days as of late and I've ridden every weekend!
Cheers!

Hey Dave!
Very sad news from Moto3, a real tragedy.  :(

It's great to know the season has started! This should have been TT week!
Last Friday I took the day off and went for a ride in the Appennini mounts, I did four or five mountain passes and 320 kms of twists and turns, amazing. No crowds, brilliant.

Lore, that really does sound fantastic, and I can appreciate the added enjoyment factor on your bike.

I don't like saying I'm jealous, but really, the route looks amazing. Get some pics!  ;D  :2thumbsup:

Yes, very sad news about Dupasquier/moto3 as it always is.

I came back in last night with the visor fully splatted - that's when you know it's TT week of course.

I'll be heading out again this evening. Might take boots/chalk bag this time .. or just not bother!
I haven't been for a decent long ride yet, apart from picking up my leathers last autumn, so that's something to look forward to. Could go for a blast over to Wales!
Actually, that's a great idea  ;D

Been thinking a bit more about getting a two stroke though. I just love the purity, light weight etc, and would be great for the track of course.

I was looking at someone's ZX10 down in Matlock last night. Amazing looking machine, but just so much bigger/heavier.

Please keep us posted about your travels! x

Hey Dave, I took just a couple of pics, here's one:
IMG-20210528-WA0004 by Nibile, su Flickr
The other one is of myself pigging out on a giant piadina with ham and cheese, which I think it's not of much interest!

I really understand you about the 2stroke. After fuc**** up the engine I was really close to either selling her or putting her in the living room, but then again I opted for riding her! I am more and more convinced that - track riding apart - the key for road enjoyment is lightness and agility. It's also the best way to improve.
My lottery win dream would be to get the Suzuki to a guy in Turin and just ask him to make her as light as possible: pistons, rims, nuts and bolts, etc. He did a 650 SV like mine at 143 kg dry, with the engine tuned up to 90 bhp at the wheel! Imagine riding that on a twisty road!!!

On a completely different note, I watched a video yesterday about Dupasquier's crash, on a YouTube channel called The Talking Helmet, which always does amazingly detailed analysis about races. He pointed out that - apparently - there was a discrepancy between the time shown on Mugello start line board and on the official time sheets.
When the official time sheets already had a chequered flag for the second rider who caught Dupasquier, the start line board showed still one second to go, so that the rider who later was involved in the crash just kept going at full speed for a last ditch effort.
Basically, he offers the possibility that this discrepancy allowed the second rider one full speed lap too much, while otherwise he should have slowed down because the qualifying had ended. Indeed, the last lap of those riders, before the crash, was not appearing in the time charts with the clock going.
Here's the video, apparently no subtitles but images are quite clear (the crash is not shown luckily).

Of course it's speculation realm, but not so much. It's minimal details that can make a huge difference.
Still a tragedy, I don't think that they should have allowed the MotoGP to start. I think that the unwritten rule is that the show must go on...

Keep us posted on your rides as well!

Edited for clarity.

.. I've never seen Cheedale looking quite so verdant!  ;D
Love the nakedness of your bike, and the simplicity. I used to love the old Rotax singles too. So pure.
I'm going to be having a really good look around ;)

Something for your delectation:

Interesting video about the crash too, and some really good points raised. Thank you for that. It sounds highly plausible. Getting T-boned in track sessions, by random fallers is always a risk. There was someone recovering in his tent during my first Cadwell session, from exactly that. Super dangerous if some riders are out on a hot lap, and others think the session is over.

By the way, someone should do a "lookalike" with your Flickr profile pick. You look like Frank Zapper!  :P

Nice bikes on here! The SV is sweet! Slim as they should be! And the trials must be a hell of a fun to ride!
Just got back from 160 kms, it's national holiday here!  :dance1:

I've missed some stunning riding days recently. Had a few things to sort out on the bike.

Late last year, I managed to give the step up to the alley way beside my house, a very hard "thwack" with the sump plug on my bike  :(

Realised how badly damaged it is now, when I discovered the obvious crack, while doing an oil/filter change.

Now I'm scouring EBay for a replacement ;)

So, I've sourced a second hand oil sump pan.. and it's on it's way!

I made a ramp to get the bike into the alleyway/back yard, but it was set too low initially, and the sump plug caught the step, one day last year.

It made a really horrible sound, and took a small lump out of the step. I was obviously gutted, and worried about damage, but there were no actual drips of oil, just occasionally a light "misting". I thought I'd got away with it.

When I replaced the plug the other day, the crack opened up, and the thread stripped too.

The new pan should be here tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

It's a good excuse to speak to a few breakers, and find out what other parts they have .. for the KR1S project  ;D

Lore, I'll keep you posted  :2thumbsup:

So here are the latest updates.
I took the day off on Thursday, and with a friend we headed again towards the mountains. We had done already two passes (including a new one that neither of us had done before), when, going towards the mighty Muraglione, my bike started spluttering, leaping forward, and making loud bangs from the exhaust. I managed to go back to - some kind of- civilization somehow, partly riding party pushing. There was a mechanic but he only did cars and had no parts. More terrifying riding and pushing (a few miles) brought me (in a pool of sweat) in front of a bike mechanic. He had five bikes to work on, so my friend and I borrowed a few tools and worked on the bike on the side of the - 5 meters wide - road, while big lorries flied past.
No go.
I had to leave the bike there, and with tears in my eyes I rode pillion on a Buell XB9 with no footrests until home, 120 kms later. I can barely walk still now.

No! Lore.
That's sad to hear about the bike.
 :(

I'm sure it's unrelated, but I was having problems at the back end of last year, with my bike.

Your "bangs" sound a bit more significant than mine. I've had a lot of problems with water in fuel. It seems that anything left standing for long results in water getting drawn into the fuel system.

That ends up in the carbs, and obviously can't be burnt, leading to choking, and various bangs and pops. Is your SV on carbs or injection?

I'm glad to read that it didn't involve anything getting thrown down the road!

I hope you can recover it properly. I'm predicting a much easier fix than you might think  ;D (I hope!)

Cheers guys, much appreciated.
I'm really disappointed and curious on the other hand.
The guy thought it could be a loose intake that let too much air into the carbs... the spark plug was really white. I really have no idea.
It was strange, she could idle no problem, then she would turn off when engaging gear, but then she could start again with the clutch engaged...
I really hope it's an easy fit!
It's been a tough spring, first the blown engine on the TZR and now this...
 :'(
The garage is empty, really sad sight. Likewise for my wallet.

After a very frustrating day at work, I bought a pair of front calipers from a Cbr 600 F for my bike!
Radial master cylinder sooner or later.
Hopefully she'll be fixed tomorrow.

Latest news, the mechanic just called, she's apparently fixed!
It was just a broken ground wire, badly fixed probably by the previous owner to shorten the tail...
Tested on the dyno, on the road tomorrow!
I hope all is good!!!
The white plug is due to a dry carburetion, courtesy of a sport air filter that was advised to me...

Good news nibs! Glad it wasn't anything major. Took the street triple out for the first time in months today, bit rough at low revs which I'm hoping is just old fuel. Tank was nearly empty so have brimmed it with new stuff, seems a little better already after just a few miles, so hopefully a run down the m4 to work tomorrow will clear her out.
