And again yesterday, he seems to be on a different level to everyone else, even Dunlop!
Anyway here's some paddock shots:
Hutchy's (at the time) two winning bikes with garlands:

Dunlops lap record tyres:
20160608_111530 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr
A couple of shots of the Nortons, they don't win anything but they look amazing and sound like gods farting:
20160608_112018 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr
20160608_112036 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr
And another Norton which is clearly a very nice looking bike:
20160608_112113 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr
A bimota with hub centred steering, nice engineering (but not as wacky looking as the Vyrus):
20160608_112516 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr
Cafe racers and Nortons I like ok? Just live with it (this was spotted by my kids parked up on the road at the end of a row of very expensive ducati sports bikes, that they completely ignored...):
20160608_124511 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr
And finally a couple of shots of the bike for the sidecar team that we sponsor (in a small way). these guys are completely legends. They are local lads, both on the cusp of 70 and aiming to do a 100mph average speed lap this year (they did 99.7 last year). To claim the arbritary but wonderful the record as the oldest fastest sidecar team in TT history, they've probably already got this but 100mph is the target. They also do it all for charity (breast cancer research) and raise a lot of money. Last year they did the race wearing pink bra's over their leathers. Just total hero's:

20160608_114520 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

I'll be back at the paddock on friday so prepare for more boring shots...

Wow! That's a long time ago - had a lot of fun on that FZR 600.  I've still got those knee sliders somewhere, they had titanium bolts screwed into them which let out a spray of bright sparks when I was on my knee; great for general showing off and horrifying people you'd just passed on the way into a corner  :devil-smiley:

;D  - every single time I go round that first right hander heading towards gardoms from owler bar, I picture you with your knee down and sparks coming off that right knee and I can still feel nic sitting the bike up a bit in shock as he'd forgotten you were wearing them.  I have a proper snapshot image in my head. Pity I cant upload it here.

Always feel a bit of a pang that I never actually bought a bike, but also a bit lucky, cause I'm not sure I'd still be in one piece if that VRF400 at Manhatten Motorcycles hadn't just been sold 5 mins before I turned up to buy it!!

So, who's gonna win the Senior?
Hutchy seemed on another level, when he's into it he's hardly beatable, and he seems to have found a purple patch; Michael Dunlop, well, could win anytime; sting in the tail by McGuinness?
Can't see anyone else with real chances.
So fucking psyched.

Besides, I've been quoted "at least 400 Euros plus Vat" for a custom made Ergal top plate for my bike...  :'(
Plus, taking the bike to their shop in Verona, 300 kms away...  :'( :'(

Have you had Cowboyhat's video of his dad and his Norton?

Always a few Nortons, plus lots of other very nice bikes in the bike specialists upstairs at our unit.

I would like to see Michael Dunlop do it but hutchy is a top bloke, shame the triumph didn't get into the top 3 on the supersport. Been a good one this year very enjoyable

Nice video there, JB.

"The Dog's"  ;D

Not sure about the Senior. I'm a bit worried TBH. All this talk of a 134/135 lap is getting a bit scary, realistic though it probably is. It's not the speed, but the level of commitment to achieve it. I'll watch it later on the hub. I'll go Dunlop, to avoid breaking the fence.

Or Alex.. as I don't think he's aware of the risks.

What? The guy in the Domiracer video, that I'm close to watching for the ten millionth time, is Cowboyhat's dad?

You didn't look at his other videos then! Highly amusing if you know him, cos he's exactly like Char just 30 years older! At least we know what to expect!

The last few shots from the TT this year...
Going OT here, but this was one of the few things slow enough to photograph on senior race day, and yes it's the right way up:
20160610_120253 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

I tried to photograph every sidecar (think there were 50+ in total...) as they set off. This is probably 100 metres down from the start line and these are the few that I managed to get in shot...:

20160610_133348 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

Start 'em young:
20160610_140643 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

20160610_140558 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

This is the sidecar boys that we sponsor, they had a decent run, first lap was 97.5MPH from standing start with full tank, lap 2 99.3MPH so were looking good for a 100+ on the last flying lap. However all the teams seemed to drop off the pace on the last lap (unusually) so I suspect that the sea mist that delayed the start came back a bit and everyone eased off, oh well next year... This is them coming back in have just finished, high-fiving mo-fos:
20160610_144803 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

My even less successful atempts at catching the superbikes, these are a couple of the "slow" back markers...:

The Norton race bike with all it's clothes on (I love this bike):
20160610_181339 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

I don't normally go for the cruiser style bikes in a big way, although FD's is obviously a bit tasty and this also caught my eye a bit:
20160611_160713 by Nik Jennings, on Flickr

Had a really good couple of weeks, it's been a bit of a classic TT (helped by the weather). I think I've seen pretty much most bikes going however the one thing I haven't seen which I perhaps was expecting to see was a Kawasaki H2. Oh well, I did however go back and look at this, so you have to as well, simply stunning:

Thanks for all the photos Nik, and the inside knowledge. Been great.

Anything of the Suter MMX btw  ;D

I've just managed to finish watching on ITV Hub. I feel quite uncomfortable about the deaths now, or just the way they get a passing mention. Is it an age thing, I wonder?

Thanks for the memories  :)

Great pics Nik. The Nortons. Wow.
Four losses this year... I think that in the racing world there's some kind of code about these things, everyone knows about it, everyone is affected, but no one wants to talk too much about it. I remember that when Gilles Villeneuve died I was surprised that basically none of the F1 pilots went to the funeral, but apparently that's how they roll.
I think it's to keep a distance. Admitting it's possible.

Anyway, I'd really like to see it live one day.
