Travel insurance and french doctors
November 13, 2015, 11:02:36 am
Has anyone got any experience with the medical system in France? Currently on a year abroad, travel insurance EHIC and all the rest of it. Just before I left, a specialist at the Northern General told me I had elbow instability, dull aches, clunking noises etc. It's got worse and is starting to be a pain in the arse at work, cos I sit at a keyboard on data input all day (as well as I can't train on it!).
I don't think it's a common injury, and it took me the best part of a year and a half to get it looked at by a specialist in the UK, so is there any point in me going to see a doctor in France about it?

Cheers!

Only got experience with A&E style stuff, no idea about how you go about getting seen for other stuff. If it's aggravated by work can you go through some sort of occupational health route there?

My understanding is that in France you do not have to see a GP before seeing a specialist. I think you pay up front then claim part of the money back.
My mate who lives over there would pay for a scan then book an appointment with the orthapedic consultant taking the scan results with him.
