West Midlands Isolation
October 23, 2015, 02:03:08 pm
Long time lurker, first proper post...

I've recently moved from Manchester to Coventry and am struggling with grit withdrawal. Does anyone have any recommendations for places which could be a good quick hit after work in an evening, I'm thinking of the bits and pieces around Leicester here.

And this weekend I'm going somewhere new, either Black Rocks or the Wye Valley as they seem the nearest quality climbing to me now. Would you recommend one over the other, how's Black Rocks doing this time of year?

Thanks!

Forest Rock is probably the most extensive (and hard) bouldering in Leicestershire. Beacon Hill and Bradgate Park are pleasant for an evening boulder/soloing.  Hangingstone Quarry has some good sport routes. Bits and bobs elsewhere, and more seems to be getting developed, see http://www.leicestershireclimbs.co.uk/

I think Black Rocks might be a bit grim after the rain on Saturday. Shining Cliff and eatswood must be pretty good bets if you are coming from down the M1.
