Hey web-slinger, hope you had a good day.   :P

I know exactly the problem you mean, and I have done it from a stand up, unfortunately I can't remember how hard I thought it was! (It was a while since I last went). I can remember it had a couple of slopey holds. And the sitter looked like it had a couple of crimps, V8-ish (visual grade guesstimator!!!)

What do you reckon?

P.S. We're not slack, its just that Lakesbloc aren't doing a topo to Carrock so we don't *have* to make up grades!

If you mean the nose from a sitter and finishing left - V6. The one to the right (big jug to start then pull over on crimps) is V3.
Why isn't Lakesbloc doing the business for Carrock Fell?

Looks like my visual grade guesstimator needs recalibrating!

Lakesbloc aren't doing a topo because North Lakes legend Jim Arnold and co. are busting one out. Obviously they know far more about the crag and are still developing things as far as I know.

If the pace of development is anything like the pace of the information flow...I've seen continents drift faster   Surely it would be an idea to get some kind of interim topo on t'interweb for those who are less well-informed than the locals? This would also have the additional advantage of diverting attention away from the soon-to-be polished classics on the three boulders at the northern end.
You sure these boys aren't in league with the evil Ripofffax empire?

Now now, I said V8-ISH, V8+ is a special grade I keep in reserve and don't bring out that often

Anyway, it was a guess, I ain't even tried it so I would listen to TC. Mind you, at V6 maybe you should stick your fingers in your ears - "La lalalalaLALALA..."

If that's the same "Webbo" I remember from the Stoney Caff (isolated triangles on the Formica table tops   ) scene back in the late 70s (the guy who once famously blacked out an entire American town by driving a car into an electricity sub station !) I'm not surprised you found the grit grades a piece of piss by comparison. I do, too. And if not, well - welcome to North Cumbria

Hang on, I've met this bloke! Weird, I remember him telling me about it and the horrendous amount that was paid out in insurance. But I'm pretty sure it was at a bike track day at Cadwell Park - same bloke? Or urban myth

Was the guy a biker?

A bit before my time Webbo - I didn't move to Sheff until '86 and the guy I met at Cadwell was in about 2000.
