Santander area
February 14, 2015, 04:18:20 pm
I'm getting the ferry to Santander with my daughter at Easter for a short break. Were keen to do some bouldering. A friend has recommended Santa Gadea as a good option. Can anyone suggest any other venues?? thanks

There are( or were) three diferent areas in that guide. Santa Gadea is sandstone, There is aslo a Limestone area and (apparently0 a grit-like one.
I didn't get to that though.

Off to Cantabria for two full weeks at the start of September and would like to get some steady low to mid grade bouldering in; and info would be much appreciated by me too. After areas with some nice scenery and don't mind a walk in either.

Let me know what the name of the guide is when you get it DaveJ as will probably get a copy myself. My OH doesn't climb so bouldering the only option for me too...

Cheers, thanks a lot :) will get one ordered. Just need to explain to the OH how a bouldering mat will be finding its way in to the boot for the drive to Portsmouth later this year. Might not get away with that and the kitesurfing kit too

Only thing I'd say is that when we were at Santa Gadea there was hardly anyone around (possibly not the case when it's not sleeting) and it's pretty remote.

If there are only two of you a snapped ankle could get tricky.

Like I say that's on the basis of a single visit in, I i suspect freak weather. Maybe it's popular when the sun's out.
The limestone area was realtively touristy but OTOH on top of a biggish Hill.

DaveJ, did you manage to get any bouldering in at Santa Gadea? Leave in two weeks time and contemplating if I should bother packing the pads or not.

Was also going to buy the guide but the only place I thought stocked it, Rock and Run, appear to be out, so if anyone knows of a shop stocking it I'd be grateful, or better, a loan copy would be super (and worth significant waddage points)
