Swanage and Portland must only be 1hr 30 - 2 hrs I'd guess. Doubt there's anything closer than that really.

I live in Oxford, Basingstoke's no worse. You're close to Reading Wall, which is good, and you're closer to dorset than me. I drove 5+ hours both days this weekend to climb. Chin up!
