Can anyone recomend some decent CD-burning software i can get free of t'internet? - the stuff i've got on my work machine (roxio EasyCD creator5) sucks a big fat sweaty dick - has just fucked up on 2 attempts to write a CD, thus wasting 2 CDs and not giving me a decent reason why. cheers

Are you using decent discs - don't bother with the very cheap ones, they're a waste of time.

An easy one to use is NTI Cd-Maker which is a free trial, and then can be "modified" later if you know what I mean

Another is Nero, but not as user-friendly....

They are TDK ones, so no, not the 500-for-ten-bob ones on a stack. I did one the other day and it was fine.

Downloaded the Nero from the www.nero.com (which is demo version) other night.. then get yourself a keygen and it will provide you a serial number is readily for you to copy it onto Nero's registration serial number

Then it become FULL version ! God I love warez

Warez are a disgrace, and I couldn't possible ever condone them

Apparantly some people do actually buy software though, which is odd given how easy it is not to.

A word of advice though, the occasional nasty crack will rear it's head and attempt to trash your system or give you a nice little trojan or something so it's probably worth testing things out on a non-critical pc first...

Try the one I posted above (astalavista.com) - it acts as a wrapper to many sites, including the astalavista.box.sk

Also, try searching on google groups for good results.

How do you know there were trojans involved? I worry that I pick them up too often, but most of the time, stuff from the above is ok.

The link that dobbin posted is usually fine and one I've used a lot in the past.

A clever trojan will bypass your antivirus/firewall. I think sometimes a network monitor is the only way to see them, but I'm no expert.

The other thing that often works (but not with the more clever software) is to just get a utility (such as "beyondo") that will change your system clock for a few seconds while you start the app. This will often fool a time-limit trial version check. Apparantly. I'd never do this of course.

Very much depends upon the nature of the trojan. I tend to regularly scan my own ports to see if any have mysteriously become opened, get the port banners down and 9/10 times it'll even tell you the name and version of the trojan. Nice.

I have just got the keygen for NTI Cdmaker platinum version 6 off CRACKS.am but when I try to use the generated serial number it says "invalid valid serial number".  Do I have to just keep generating them and hope one works or is there a problem.

Sorry to be all boring and moderatorish but could you post it to him direct please rather than putting it up on here? The only reason I say this is that I know some newsgroups get grief for putting such stuff up publically, which is why I've not just posted them up here meself!! ( I've mailed James another download link for a full version too)

PS Dunno why, but your avatar still scares the living shit out of me  :!:

Nice one scaryHead - dunno why it scares me, I think coz it looks like some serial killer about to strike!

No problem talking about warez in general and links to find stuff, but when it gets down to a specific serial # for a specific product, then the manufacturer could pick that up on a later search and might "be in touch"... as it were...

The problem with all this is most likely because of the following:

When a software manufacturer releases as trial version that can be made into a full version just by entering a serial number, they're fully aware that bogus serials will be flying around the web soon afterwards.
So, although some manufacturers just accept this as they realise that a lot of people will still pay up, others will spend some time downloading all the available serials and either putting them into some sort of bad serials list, or by subtly changing the format of the serial required for the current version that is available to download. You can't blame them, I'd do the same if I was trying to make  living from my software.

You might be better off searching for a full version instead of a serial or crack to the trial version.

I've found some trial versions of software to have other limitations in some cases, some miss out chunks of functionality and are implemented in such a way that a serial for a full version isn't enough to make it the full product - features may be missing, etc. Of course, it varies on a case to case basis and its always worth a try.

My er, mate Bob mentioned that if you have a music sharing client installed, such as WinMX you can often find software there, full versions and that...

Avoid iMesh like the plague - spyware, adverts the full shebang. Bob spent ages hacking all its crap out again.

And should you decide to install WinMX or similar, I'd recommend installing a firewall and only opening the ports the app needs - on installing it tells you which ones they are.
