So last night my flight back to the uk was cancelled last minute from Alicante because of the french air traffic controllers strike. (I'm finding it very hard to be restrained about what I think about these A***oles) The next available flight was for next Thursday when i tried to re-book. Thankfully i can stay with my girlfriend out here so accommodation isn't too much of a problem, any advice on what I should or could do and what my rights are in this situation.

Talking of frogs, me and Prof. Popp were nearly hit by fucking flying frogs at Brownstones on Tuesday.

I kid you not..

I'd just managed to complete a 7A(+?) Groundhog, that I'd been working for a while - and as we were packing up there was a thwack - and a pair of (presumably) amorous amphibians fell on the path below the cliff top about 2m from us - I caught them falling from the corner of my eye. They looked a bit stunned (its one way to finish off I guess..) but neither had croaked... Fucking flukey fucking flying frogs indeed.

(PS - sorry to hear about the flight stuff Ben - thats shite...)

More seriously - just heard a radio 5 Q&A about this....

The airlines are obliged to
a: either give you a refund, or arrange alternative travel (your choice)
b: Provide you with some where to stay and keep you fed while you wait until you can travel back. They have to pay for this upfront (you should not have to).

They are not:
 - obliged to give you any compensation because it is a matter out of their hands - but as above they have a duty of care to look after you.

I was supposed to be in Barcelona yesterday evening but the flight from Luton was obviously cancelled. Easyjet popped me into a taxi to Gatwick and here I sit in a pretty nice hotel room and rather well fed at their cost. The flight should happen late tomorrow, so hopefully climbing on Monday as was the plan. However, there is a strike planned for next Thurs to Saturday... my flight home is Friday. Despite insurance, I'll end up a few hundred out of pocket because some strikers feel they shouldn't work past the age of 57. I'd like to swear at them...
