Italy chuffing trip
January 13, 2015, 09:38:53 am
I want to get a trip booked in for Easterish time. Previously I've been to Lleida, Costa Blanca and El Chorro. I fancy something different.

The missus loves Italy and speaks Italian - I've always loved holidays there but have only gone to cultural destinations.

Any recommendations for Italian sport climbing areas for a group climbing 7a-8a?

Cheers.

Arco: nice place to hang out, climbing good but not imo great, seriously crowded at Easter.

Finale: nice place to hang out, haven't climbed there myself but supposed to be great especially a bit further out in the boonies away from Finale itself ("Oltrefinale")

Sperlonga (sp?): sea cliff climbing near Rome. Bumped into a mate at the wall the other day who said he was there at New Year and it was really good but a little too warm. in January.

Sardinia:
Spent a really good Easter ages ago near Cala Gonone on the east coast.
Wasn't operating in the 7 and 8s then but a squint at the UKC logbooks for the area suggests there is plenty to go at.

Sardinia:

Good point. I was somehow mentally counting that as different from "Italy". Cala Gonone is certainly the default starting point, but Sardinia about the size of Wales and it looks like there's good climbing all over the place.

Cheers all, some good suggestions there. Anyone know about the climbing around Lecco?

Ceredo could be good for Easter.
