Cheers guys, Dr Ork loves you too! He's doing a special mates rates festive discount on replacing limbs with a bionic heavy autogun / drill bit bionic combo if anyone's keen.

Nice drawing Dr Norton - it just needs a gridlock of stalled English cars trying to get into a £30/day Pen Y Pass carpark that's been full since 5:59am, and a bunch of Welsh locals shuffling along keying them and kicking off wing mirrors....

Drew this the other day of Pen Y Pass YHA, where I spent a few seasons.

Great work, like the minimal approach, although the clear sky is unrealistic :)

The usual bollox, in lieu of any sort of challenging climbing / training....(although I think I did these slowly and sporadically enough to not detract from my rehab, at least).

Two models that aren't Warhammer but closely resemble Warhammer Chaos factions - Nurgle sorceror first with the usual rot and decay (albeit a bit less gruesome  than normal, and maybe a hint of Tzeentch in there??), and Khorne warrior second with traditional red / gold armour.

I was trying a few focused painting styles - really rich and sharp red on the warrior, and pastels, colour fades, and stippling on the sorceror.

It would be nice if the forum software would actually post images at the correct size instead of inflating them to some random size it pulls out of it's arse  ::)

What's better than a Dwarf in power armour??

A Dwarf in power armour with a flamethrower, of course. Next question!

Really happy with most of the painting on this one especially the armour. Quite unhappy with the photos which for some reason decided to pick out all the -micro-roughness from the varnish and other imperfections as if they were the main focus 🙄 Although at least it got the colours spot on.

Special Wellsy's knee recovery commiseration triple edition:

(aka I'd *much* rather be posting about climbing)
((aka don't get lower limb and upper limb injuries at the same time whatever you do))
(((aka I'm dreading to see how badly UBB's auto-image-sizing bullshit will fuck up the pictures this time)))

Here you go:

Disclaimer: I've been wearing 2x reading glasses to paint them since 2017.

shit the bed.
Nearly happened last night, this was the curry I ordered:

Quote
Devils Naga
Phall style dish cooked with tiger naga chillies, giving a very evil hot & tasty flavour
They're not wrong. The sauce looked like just pureed chillies. I managed 7 mouthfuls including 5 bits of chicken over 45 mins and had to bin the remaining 2/3 of the dish.

Anyway, yeah, they're smol. I do have decades of practise though, and high quality small brushes (Windsor and Newton Series 7 sizes 00 and 000 for the fine details). I definitely can't paint any detail work after coffee as I'm too shaky  ::)

Do they see use for gaming, or is it purely for the love of art? Gorgeous work either way.

It's purely to obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul. No gaming, i did try years ago but kinda went for a lower-powered army (Dwarfs) and wasn't very good at it. It was entertaining doing quicker army standard painting though. These current ones take a loonnngggg time.

Fiend, your painting is excellent. Really impressive stuff. I've been painting some little lads and lasses myself of late, and used them in some games too

Nothing like fiends but okay enough!

Nice one Wellsy. Strong squad look. Is that Infinity (at a very vague guess)??

Yeah, brilliant game. Getting in a couple of matches a week right now which is cool. Very different from 40k or anything like that. Skirmishy and quite cyberpunk in vibe

Daughter No.2 (4 of 4) is an awesome footballer. Striker, Junior Premier League (Plymouth Argyle), Devon County under 16s. Smart (top 5% in her year).

But…

Dyslexic and suffers immensely with her self confidence, self esteem and mental health.

Mocks this month and soon GCSEs bearing down on her, with the indignity of prompts and fiches and additional time. Trying to balance training, studying, matches (often Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, all over the UK. Training 3/4 nights per week). Not knowing where to draw the line, but something has to give. Friends giving under the strain, self harming.
To be clear, she’s in charge of her own life. We will support her what ever she chooses.
She dreams of being a Lioness, pulling on that jersey and striding out under the floodlights, but that path is rough. She has excellent prospects and talent, but that might not be enough; after all, so does everyone else on that journey.

I’m helpless, really, here.

A hug, tell her I love her, try to catch her when she stumbles.

Try and strike a balance between supporting and avoid pushing.
Her path, not mine, not her mum’s , just hers.

So, I took an old sketch that did in an HMS Sultan text book, 35 years ago (when I was supposed to be doing/thinking about Thermodynamics) and turned it into a portrait of her.

That’s her, in my eyes, under those floodlights.

She sounds like she is doing amazing and with the level of parental support and worry this post shows I'm sure she will be successful. Amazing artwork and I just wish I had that level of skill to show my boys how much they mean to me.

God knows parenting can be hard. It sounds a bit pathetic, and I wish I could offer more, but hang in there Matt - sounds to me like you're doing a wonderful job. Drawing's not bad either ;)

So, being an inveterate tinkerer…
I had to develop the sketch further.
I’m calling it “Equals”:
