Bvdub's new album Tanto ... is apparently one of his best yet!

Whoever it was who said this was completely correct. It's pure genius, sweeping tides of power and beauty, a fitting celebration of friendship. Even the track titles are strongly emotive.

That Todd Terje album is ridiculously good. I wasn't keen at first for some mad reason, but now consider it an absolute favourite.

the_Dom. Thanks, yes a big Earth fan.  I got a really nice DylanCarslonAlbion album of solo guitar called "Gold" that didn't quite make the best of list but is really worthwhile, especially late at night with lights down low.

Some more before the year closes out:

The Heads: Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere.  Massively overlooked Leeds based acid/psych/rock band from the early 90's receives the remastering and vinyl repress treatment. It's brilliant.  Super heavy freak out.

Theo Parrish: American Intelligence.  Just ducked in during December.  I'm a huge fan so totally biased but I just love his music. Ultra deep house/house/footwork.  Perfect.

Arthur Russell: Love is Overtaking Me.  All of Arthur's early songs, just lovely pop/folk from the 70's.

Ok, totally breaking the rules here . . . 

A I thought i'd give a shout out to couple things I 'discovered/rediscovered' last year that are one of my favourite record labels. Fat Possum. They are an old blues label that realised all their old musicians were passing away, so expanded to recorded some newer blues/rock/alternative acts. i.e. the Black Keys, re-release some modest mouse stuff etc.

Anyway these are worth checking out.




Solomon Burke - Don't give up on me (2002). I'm not usually a soul fan, but this is brilliant. On the blues end of the spectrum, which is probably why i like it. Good hammond organ throughout.




Youth Lagoon - Wondrous bughouse (2013). I found his stuff takes a couple listen but then gets under the skin. Very dreamy electronic pop.
