Over on the mainland at the weekend. The little lady wants to visit Ikea Friday evening. Should I go with her (shudder...) or is Warrington wall worth a shout?
Key questions
1 is the wall near ikea/easy to find?
2 is it worth visiting? I'll probably just be bouldering and only there for a couple of hours but would also be happy to do some roped stuff which leads me to...
3 anybody in the area planning on heading there Friday evening from 7 ish for a couple of hours?

1. Yes near IKEA (5 minutes) and very easy to find (church on the main road into Warrington, basically in tescos car park).
2.  Don't really boulder much there, bouldering is not extensive at all but they do seem to make the best of it with some good board style bouldering fitting a lot of problems into a small area.  Routes have historically been pretty good despite being small in comparison with modern walls (around 12m).  In particular the end walls have a good angle for training and they tend to set some good sustained p/e routes.  Caveat is that I haven't been for a few months.

Last time I went to the Warrington wall, which was before my now married daughter was born. I wished I gone to Ikea instead, however I think they have ripped out the shit featured bouldering wall thank god.

Anyway cheers for the info. I'll probably head to the wall as no matter how bad it is it must surely work out better and cheaper than ikea...

I climb at Warrington wall. The problems are really good in my opinion, and despite there being only three boards the only place I would rather boulder indoors locally is the hangar. Finally unless you are a beast then I am sure there will be plenty there for you to have a go at

The other option if you are just bouldering is BE Boulder in Widnes. This is 5 minutes extra to drive however is a modern enterprises wall with good professional setting done by Alex fry. It isn't massive, however should keep you going for a session if you fancy some more varied bouldering than the board style at Warrington.

Very tempted by gcw or popp's board options but due to timing and transport and ikea proximity I thin warrimgton is the only option. I'll give it a whirl but cheers for the other offers. Next time.
Also definitely not a best currently and I occasionally drink coffee but mostly go for peppermint tea. Yes I am that dull...

The shit featured bouldering wall is still there. Me and that wall have history, there's were some superb problems, but nobody seems to use it any more. The board is densely packed with every kind of hold, so you're sure to find something. Dave that runs it is a smashing fella - it's not leading edge but it's a nice place to spend some time.

Went to the wall. I liked it.
Bouldering area was a bit small and well chalked (maybe due a reset?) But the problems were enjoyable.
Then once I was beasted I managed to humiliate myself with a woeful performance on the lead wall. Again the climbing was good.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. I'll definitely head there again if I'm ever in the area.
My only criticism would be it was very hot in the wall which really doesn't suit me.

I used to go their quite frequently and the bouldering was always like that, but the ropes are normally decent. Not bad at all.
